My Make-Up Products

Over the last 6 months I would say I have gotten several requests for certain posts, on of them being my make-up. I am by no means a make-up artist (or will pretend like I am) or do tutorials. I am just sharing what I love using. Prior to pregnancy I had the worst skin, I hated it, and was so insecure! I would break out if someone would even look at my face. Thank God for pregnancy! I don't know what happened, but my skin cleared up and stayed pretty clear (it is not by any means perfect) through out my entire pregnancy! It was like magic. I was worried it would go back post baby and breastfeeding, but I was fortunate enough to have it stay clear and healthy. Once I had Hudson, I quickly learned I needed to simplify my life as much as possible. I think all of us mommy's would agree on that. One area was my "getting ready" routine. I needed to find the quickest way to get ready without having to retouch my make-up mid day. The first thing I did was get rid of my extensions. It was a BIG step for me since I had worn extensions for like...ever! But this saved me SOOOOOO much time getting ready in the morning and not having to maintain another set of hair.

So with having a post baby body I was just feeling so "blah" and the fact that I couldn't fit into any of my clothes yet, I was in need of something fresh and new to make me not feel like a dead mommy. I was on the hunt for some new make-up products that were "mommy-proof". You know the kind of proof that doesn't wear off when you fall asleep breastfeeding or when a toddler grabs your face. Or when you are running as many errands as you in 117 degree weather when one kid is at preschool.  I have been using all these products for over a year now and can say I love them all!
Hope you enjoy!

1. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer : This really does work! I can really tell a difference in the long wear of my foundation when I don't use it. It is perfect for the working mommy or mommy on the go, when we don't have the time to do touch ups throughout the day. It can be a bit pricy, but I have found it on eBay before for a bit cheaper. A little bit goes a long way, so the bottle will last you for a good 6-8 months or even longer! I also do not use this every day, only when I need my make-up to last all day and special occasions.

2. Foundation: I do use two different foundations depending on the day ahead.
I use this for shooting, special occasions, or when I know I have a busy day being out and about (especially in the summers here in AZ-so HOT!). This is my all time favorite foundation! I feel like a whole new women with this and it seriously lasts all day long. It is also a bit pricy, but you are getting what you pay for. You also don't need a lot to get a full coverage on your face.
This is only $6!!! I mean you can't be that! I use this if I don't have much going on and am just hanging out at the house.

3. Concealer: I will share my two favorites.
This is a great every day concealer that is a medium coverage (not too thick but not too light).

This really does not crease! I've heard it does for some, but I love this stuff! It really does not move! It is a bit thick, so if you don't like heavy make-up go with the MAC Pro Longwear (above). I have also bought this on eBay for cheaper.

4. Cream Contour: I also go back and forth with these two products. I blend on my cheek bones, forehead, nose and under my bottom lip to create a shadow.
This is a budget friendly contour stick that I love for when I am just home or a quick run to starbucks.

I swear by this contour stick!!! And I have also had it for over a year now and its only half gone. This does last longer than the NYX Wonder Stick (above).

5. Highlighter: It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye in "light". I use this under my eyes, and in the "T-Zone" area.

6. Setting Powder
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder: THIS IS A MUST!!!!! So worth every penny. It will also last you 8+ months.

I swear by this stuff! It will transform the whole look of your make-up! I feel like I just got airbrushed. I put it on top of the areas I highlight and let is sit for a couple of minutes. I usually go stick a loud of laundry in, or make the bed, or refill my coffee while it sets. Then brush off the access and then I put my powder foundation on top.

I use this and only this! I have not found another powder that compares.

8. Blush
Fall/Winter Seasons
Nars Blush  in "Orgasm"
and
Mac Mineralize Blush in "Warm Soul"

Spring/Summer Seasons
Nars Blush in "Gaiety"
and
Mac Mineralize Blush  in "Gentle"

9. BronzerMac in "Medium"

10. HighlightMac Mineralize Skinfinish in "Soft and Gentle"

11. Finishing SprayMac Prep and Prime
This sets your make-up in place and is the last step I do. I also will spray this on my highlighter brush and dip it in the highlighter.

12. Eyeshadow
To make my life and travel much easier I use this and this to hold my eyeshadows. I buy these refill pans for $6 each and I feel like it has been a game changer!
Here are my favorite colors:
All that Glitters
Blackberry
Carbon
Corduroy
Dazzlelight
Haux
Jest
Naked Lunch
Omega
Phloff!
Ricepaper
Saddle
Satin Taupe
Shroom
Sketch
Texture
Vanilla
Woodwinked
Yogurt

13. Liner: Mac Fluidline in "Blacktrack"

14. LashesHere with Duo Eyelash Adhesive  in "Black"
Because I wear false eyelashes I don't really have a preference for mascara. Honestly when I order my make up from Nordstrom they send you 3 free samples and I always pick the mascaras and just use those. For my under eyelashes I use whatever "waterproof" mascara is on sale at the time.

Hope this was helpful to you! Thanks for reading.
XOXO
